Hi,

Has anyone been on the Balmoral with a 6-year-old? Any advice/tips would be greatly received 😊.

Looking to potentially go on the solar eclipse trip in August 2026 (it is the most cost-effective option).

However, we've never been on a cruise, and I'm worried if there's enough to do on this ship to keep a 6-year-old entertained on the at-sea days? Did you experience other children on board?

I'm also very fussy with food due to allergies, etc. so any food reviews would also be great.

Thank you.

Fred Olsen really isn’t the best cruise line if you are travelling with children. Going in school holidays there may be a few kids but every time I’ve cruised with them I haven’t seen many. Service and food are both great, highly recommend

It's very mature. Often zero children and not geared up for children at all.
Food is decent quality traditional style. But I wouldn't go with a 6 yo.

My parents love cruising with Fred Olsen, but from what I gather, it's not geared towards children at all. Maybe with an older child who's happy reading on sea days!

I'd really recommend finding a more child friendly/oriented cruise line

Thank you all. A cruise isn't something we would ever consider normally. But that's really helpful.
