Caribbean vs Mauritius

Booking a special birthday week away. We have never been to the Mauritius but hear it is great with high standards of service. We go to the Caribbean a fair bit and like it. It would be one of the lesser known islands in the Grenadines.

We can only do 9 nights maximum.

Mauritius is a 12 hour flight and direct, it would cost £1,000 each.

Caribbean would be 8 hour flight and then a 1 hour flight and cost about £800.

Nice villas are around the same cost in each. What would you go for?

Whereabouts are you looking at staying in Mauritius? At certain times of the year, one side of the island is extremely windy. We went for our honeymoon. You don't want to end up on the wrong side for the time of year you are travelling.

Consider the time zone change too. From memory Mauritius is onky a few hours so we didn’t suffer from jet lag. Coming back from the Caribbean we did. I would choose Mauritius but the. There are so many factors you haven’t included - who’s going, ages, what activities do they like, ocean or pool, beach type, culture, food etc.

Service is better in Mauritian hotels. Le Morne is my favourite beach in the world. Mauritius every time imo. Been to St Lucia and Barbados multiple times but we have made Mauritius our regular trip over the last 8 years as it’s just a cut above

@lement - how on earth did you manage to find Mauritius and Caribbean deals for those prices?! Would love to know who you’re planning to book with / what websites you have looked at.
id love to go to those places but it looks like it will be about £6k minimum half board for me, DH and DS for 9 nights. Caribbean is nowhere near that price range either .
