Which countries lavish love on young children?

I went to Palermo in Sicily with my 14 month old a few years ago and it was genuinely like walking down the street with Brad Pitt. Cars stopped, nonnas waved from balconies, a shout of "Bellisimo!" followed us everywhere we went. I'd love to experience that collective adoration with my second child and I was wandering if anyone could recommend any other destinations that adore young children?

Portuguese market, white blonde, blue eyed two year old son. Little old ladies went wild touching his hair, one said it was for luck. Strange experience.

Italy!

Greece.

Greece. My kids are older, 8 and 12 but they were still made a fuss of when we were in Crete last year.

I'm intrigued by the mentions of Cyprus and Greece as I've never been to Cyprus and I visited Athens and Thessaloniki pre-kids and absolutely loved it and would like to see more of Greece.

Can anyone recommend places in Cyprus or Greece that have lovely beaches and things for a three year old to do and feel like real places locals live and aren't just for tourists?
