Orlando Florida- Disney and universal. Which hotel?!

I am currently booked with Virgin Atlantic to go to Orlando next February. I am wanting to stay in a hotel close to both universal and Disney but I am tied to a Virgin Atlantic package. Any ideas on what hotel would be best for both?

I like to stay somewhere around the intersection of international drive & sand lake road. I find it convenient when visiting both Disney & Universal.

Having a quick look at Virgin hotels it would be the Avanti / Sonesta Suites or similar. I stayed in the Avanti years ago. It’s not quite as nice as the pictures show but was a solid hotel.

There isn’t one because they aren’t near each other….

You can either be nowhere near either, or you can think about which set of parks you’re likely to visit most (young kids - Disney, teenage boys - Universal as an example) and stay near to there/on site there and factor in Ubers to the other set of parks.

How old are your children? We went when LO was 7 and had more than enough on just with Disney, never made it to Universal. If you can afford, get a Disney hotel within walking distance, the shuttles are a pain at the end of the day.

Could you do a split holiday? We stayed at Universal for 3 or 4 nights, then moved on to Disney.

This we usually do a split holiday

Agree that a split would work best if you want to do Disney and Universal. We stayed on I drive last time we went and spent a fortune on Uber, and often couldn't be bothered to head back to places like Disney Springs or City Walk for the evening because of the travel hassle. We go again in October and are doing a split between Port Orleans French Quarter and Universal Endless Summer.

Have you just booked flights so far why are you tied to a package?

cinetteechock1981 · 10/04/2025 01:39

We stayed off-site last time and used a combo of Uber and the free hotel shuttle—it worked well and gave us more flexibility. I get wanting something special though; I felt the same after our trip and ended up booking a weekend at a 5 star hotel adelaide just to treat ourselves afterward. It actually helped come down from the post-holiday chaos!

If you have booked flights but not hotel, there’s no package….,

yugflalska · 10/04/2025 09:27

So you’ve booked flights with Virgin Atlantic? I don’t believe you can make that a package holiday now, so you’re better off just booking the hotels you want. We booked directly with Disney for 11 nights (there could be a free dining package out later in the month so I would wait for that) then we got an uber over to Universal and stayed 3 nights there at a premium hotel for the express fast passes. We wanted the onsite experience.

what exactly did you book just flights or flights/tickets ,dont forgot to sort esta now

If you didn't book accommodation then you need to do that separately, check airbnb to .I stayed in a lovely rental
