Florence- Brunelleschi's dome and back packs

Is this absolutely no back packs at all. Or can you carry a small one? Or are only cross body bags allowed?
We can make it work - but as we are on a day trip we would normally have small ones with water and a snack to carry. Just want to go appropriately attired. Thanks.

It’s been years since I’ve visited Florence - the website says you cannot take with you:

  • Backpacks of any size or dimensions and any bag designed to be worn on the back

But you are welcome to check your bag in at the cloakroom.

They have a cloakroom for bags I believe, not yet been though to see it with my own eyes.

Thanks, I've been on the website. I just want to know the reality. (Also don't want to pay a million euro to check in a bag).

Backpacks are not ideal anyway in a busy area where there may be pickpockets. I'd go for something that can be worn on your front.
