Madrid accommodation

looking for some recommendations for hotels in Madrid, 3 nights, solo traveller, in June. I must admit that I am tempted by some of the central hotels with rooftop pools as I do a lot of walking and it would be nice to have somewhere to relax for a couple of hours before heading out for dinner. I just don’t don’t which area to book having never been. I know Sol is the central area but is it worth looking at any other areas? Ideally I would need to be close to the train station to catch the train to and from the airport

I have stayed for work at the hotel bless and 2 of the melias. I would recommend the melias. I personally didn't like the bless as they have a bar in the basement which you can hear really clearly from the first floor rooms. All are central with good facilities.
More basic is the canopy by Hilton near the football stadium. It's a bit strange that you walk through the bathroom from the hotel door but being alone this won't matter.
Have a great time.
