Ryanair child allowance - car seats

I’m possibly just being dim or over thinking this so can someone please set me straight! We’re flying with Ryanair in a couple of weeks with three children (aged 2,4 & 8 if it matters) and I want to take 1 collapsible pushchair and 2 car seats with us. I was relooking at the Ryanair website today to check I can take these 3 items as part of our allowance and I read this. Now do I need to pay to check the car seats or am I ok to just turn up with them?!

You can take 2 items for each kid. So you'll be fine with just 3!

I read is as in total not per child.

It's definitely per child currently on holiday having flown Ryanair with 2 car seats, a buggy and a carrier.

You can bring 2 items of carry-on baby equipment for free.

This can include a pushchair/buggy, car seat, booster seat or travel cot. These will need to be tagged at the check-in desk or at the boarding gate. You will be able to use your pushchair/buggy until you get to the steps of the aircraft. Depending on your arrival airport you may find it at the steps of the aircraft or in the arrival's baggage hall. Check with the ground staff as you disembark the aircraft.

Other items of baby equipment (max weight 20kg), in addition to the 2 free items, can be checked in for a fee. See our Table of Fees.

Fee charged per item/ Per one way flight - maximum weight of 20kg per item (2 items of baby equipment are carried free of charge per child - 1 pushchair plus one of the following items: car seat or booster seat or travel cot).

You could actually get away with more by checking your 2 items at the desk and then taking the pram to the gate where they give you a tag and it gets put into the hold

Happycroc · 05/04/2025 20:44

Ok, this is very good news (as the car rental company were going to charge £80 per car seat (given that the car itself cost £120!)

So I could also take a travel cot? I was going to just put my 2 year old on a mattress on the floor but it would be so much easier to have him contained!

Yeah that'd be fine. You have an allowance of 6 pieces with 3 kids

2 items of baby equipment per child. So take the cot too if it will be better.
