Hi. A friend and I are going to Essaouira next week for 7 days. She has been to Morocco several times before, including Essaouira, but only briefly and off-peak when the weather is a bit cooler.
We are wondering about beach attire and what the etiquette is. Obviously we want to be respectful and not stick out like sore thumbs. Is it acceptable to wear our swimming costumes or is it always best to cover up, with a kaftan or whatever? As a fatty, I certainly wouldn’t complain if it were the latter!
Will there be sunloungers on the beach or would you recommend taking beach towels? And is the sea actually used for swimming?
Lastly, currency. Is it worth taking Dirham or will we be ok with euro only?
If you have any other tips or advice, I’d be delighted to hear it.
Thanks.
