Inspiration for August needed!

I’m stuck!
we have two primary aged kids (8/7) and would like a week away in August to break up the school hols. We usually go to Brittany but I didn’t book it this year as I wanted to go to Billund in Denmark (Lalandia and LEGOland) but then Ryanair have suddenly stopped flying there and when I went to book the Brittany ferry the dates we needed were sold out Blush
budget up to £4k ideally but flexible on that. I don’t cope well with hot-hot!
We’re happy to drive, train or fly (Manchester our nearest). Would like a sandy beach or a pool but not keen for a pure resort holiday as we’re doing that at Easter. If there are restaurants to walk to, ideal, our kids love eating out.
Very grateful for any inspiration!

Austria? You could fly into Vienna, spend a couple of days there (depending on the hotel you choose you could get one with a pool), and then rent a car and drive to Rust (around 55 mins), for » Accommodation - Familypark, a good theme park divided up into different 'lands'. Rust itself is a lovely place too, and is on the shore of Lake Neusiedl, where you can swim and paddleboard. SUP - Podersdorf on the lake.

Ahh that’s a lovely idea! Austria hadn’t occurred to me, we went to Vienna pre kids and loved it. Thank you Smile

I came on to say Austria too! I haven't actually been yet but booked for the summer holidays. We're going to the mountains in the east of the country (Tyrol). There are plenty of lakes to swim in eg Achensee, Zell am See, Wolfgangsee etc.

I’ve thought about the Swiss alps but these sound great ideas for us Smile
