Ferry to booked to St Malo in august. Don't want longer than about 3 hours drive the other side. Is vendee noticeably better weather than Brittany or is it basically the same? Have 2 kids, 6 and 2, want to be able to let them off the leash and, for the older one, make some friends. Please help! Have spent many hours staring at eurocamp/yelloh website, and have shortlisted Garangeoire, le Jard, Les mouettes, mane guernehue. Any advice very welcome!

La Garangeoire is pretty good for that age, although the area is less nice than Brittany.

Les Mouettes caters very well for children that age.

This Siblu site in the Vendee region is nice. Good for kids that age, sandy beaches in the nearby town. We’d ride to the beach and also explored Nantes for a day trip.

Thanks will take a look at this one too!

Vendee should be warmer but not guaranteed, Brittany is better of you old wandering around quaint French towns etc, Vendee is quite touristy but beaches are good. We stayed at Le Pin Parasol which is around the corner from les garangeiore, lots of water slides, splash park, pool, lots to do and by a lake. 30 min to coast. If you prefer Brittany we liked les menuires right by the coast in Carnac or ty nadan inland a bit but slides/pool and river!!

Garengoire hands down best holidays ever

We stayed at L’Ocean Breton for a few years when our children were your ages. Absolutely beautiful region. Benodet is lovely for a day or two on the beach. Other beaches are also so accessible. Some days it was a wind proof coat and welly day but at that age it didn’t matter. I wasn’t there for the tan at that age! Although we did get lucky with the weather some years and I have some wonderful memories of Benodet beach days. Vendee slightly better chance of weather but as is always the case, not guaranteed! We go further south now as kids are older.

We stayed at Les Mouettes last August with a 6 and 4 year old, and had an absolutely brilliant time - the pool was amazing for kids, it’s heated and they could stand up in the lazy river and go down slides by themselves, and they loved the playground ideally situated right by the bar area. They made lots of friends in the pool and at kids club, and everything on the site seemed new and in great condition - highly recommend!

Sunelia Le Fief in St Brevin les Pins. Great animation and lovely indoor/outdoor pool area with slides. Baby club takes children from 2 and the kids club is amazing, we’ve been 3 times and are going again this year.
