Car-free, adults-only beach holiday?

We’re looking for a kid-free week in Europe this summer - approx £5k total cost including flights.

Here’s the criteria:
A ‘nice’ smaller, boutique-style hotel (don’t like huge hotels)
On a sandy beach
In walking distance of a ‘nice’ port/ village with little restaurants and bars so we can stroll out in the evening for dinner and stroll back (don’t want all inclusive)

We’re too knackered to hire a car on this occasion - just want somewhere lovely to flop for total R&R.

Any suggestions would be very welcome - thanks.

Lido in Venice?

It sounds like either Sant Elm (aka San Telmo) or Portocolom in Majorca would be perfect. Have a mooch around on Street View!

Sant Elm is like your favourite tiny village in Devon with cute little shops and just enough restaurants to eat at a different place every night for a week. The main hotel is right on the beach (you can walk off the terrace onto the sand).

In Portocolom you would be a few hundred metres from the beach wherever you stayed, but the harbour is incredibly beautiful, with several nice fish restaurants overlooking what looks more like a Swiss lake than the sea.

Puerto Soller and Puerto Pollensa are better known among the quieter towns of Majorca, but they are a bit more touristy. On the other hand, that gives you a better choice of accommodation (if you've always wanted to stay in a place called Hotel Esplendido, now's your chance), and there are still not many stag parties or football shirts to be seen in either place.

Thanks!

Lido/ Venice - we haven’t been to Venice before and would feel guilty to be so close and not do all the cultural sightseeing. We haven’t got the energy for a sightseeing city break right now. But thank you so much for replying.

Portocolom looks PERFECT! Thank you!

I’d still be interested in other suggestions too though. I wonder if there’s can equivalent in Tuscany?

We loved Akrotiri Beach Resort Hotel, which is a 20 min walk from the centre of Palaiokastritsa in Corfu.

Akrotiri looks great! Is Paleokastritsia ‘nice’?

Paleokastritsa has a bit of a bohemian vibe. In the evening when all the day trippers have gone, you are left with a lovely quiet resort (but with plenty of atmosphere too). There are six or seven beaches which are mostly a mix of sand and pebbles, but with crystal clear waters which are good for snorkelling in. Agia Triada was the nearest to our hotel and was our favourite.

Thank you so much.
