What would you choose?

What would you choose out of the options below for a summer break? We're a family of 2 adults 2 children (3 and 15) and taking MIL with us too.

  1. 7 nights in a "luxury" hot tub lodge at Gwel An Mor. Lots of on sight facilities to keep everyone entertained, the added luxury or private hot tub, and easy enough to travel to. However, no guarantee of nice weather.
  1. 7 nights in a eurocamp/yelloh park in northern France. Great onsite facilities to keep everyone happy, more likely to have sunny days. Longer/harder journey.
  1. 4 nights in somewhere like Croatia/Madeira. Pool, playground, and exploring local area to keep people happy. Pretty much guaranteed nice weather. Basic non luxury hotel. Easy enough flights.

We have a resort style week all inc holiday at the start of July, this one will be a cheaper get away. Costs for each of these are pretty much comparable but I just can't make my mind up on what's the best option/value for money!

I’d go for the hot tub one personally!

heldinadream · 30/03/2025 18:46

As long as everyone can cope with the travel, I'd pick France. Good weather, longer break. Journey is the only downside.

@Bonsaibaby we do love a hot tub break, I think it makes a real difference!

@heldinadream the parks look amazing! But it would be around 11 hours travelling I think, depending on which park and which crossing we do. I'm really torn

France for me I think

reluctantbrit · 30/03/2025 20:22

I wouldn’t go for 4 days to Madeira, too much travel time.

If you only have one week I would keep travel to a minimum,

mylittledoggie · 30/03/2025 20:37

Definitely France especially if you’ve already got a beach type holiday. We took our caravan a few years ago and went round a few different camp sites they were all amazing as was the weather.

babymaybebaby · 30/03/2025 20:39

7 nights in France. I couldn't be bothered travelling for 4 nights with young dc & Cornwall can be dodgy weather. However France would be a similar journey for me vs Cornwall.

dizzydizzydizzy · 30/03/2025 20:40

Since you're only talking a few days, I'd go to the hot tub place.

Silentdream · 30/03/2025 20:42

I’d ditch the MIL and buy a better holiday with your family.

ClaredeBear · 30/03/2025 20:56

France 🇫🇷

Comedycook · 30/03/2025 20:58

Option two... assuming your mil is in good health and not too elderly and can cope with the long journey

Awrite · 30/03/2025 20:59

I'd pick France.

Don’t know where option 1 is and don’t care for hot tubs but it sounds the most relaxing and best option.

The journey of option 2 sounds hellish especially if you are all cramped up in one car.

Croatia will boiling but both places too far to go for a week.
