Me and my friend are buying a holiday to Maga off my sister and her friend as she’s recently given birth so can’t go. £250 pp with flights, transfers and hotel for 3 nights. Can’t decide if this is a good price?

Well it depends when it is?

4th May. 3 nights.

I’d double check that it can actually be transferred into your name for that price. Flights especially. Is it ATOL/ABTA protected in case any part of it gets cancelled? Luggage allowance included? Do you know which hotel you are staying at?

Make sure you buy travel insurance as soon as your name is on the booking.

forgive me for asking but i’ve no idea what ATOL/ABTA is? Luggage is included, maximum 25kg but to be honest i think both of us will only need hand luggage.

Does the £250 include any name change fees?

Do you actually want to go to Magaluf? If you wanted to got to Mallorca but not Magaluf, can the hotel be changed to one elsewhere eg Palma etc? Although I doubt it as it's a package.

But it's not far from Palma and the buses are good so you'll be able to travel around the island easily if you wanted to. The weather could be good, but it could also be cooler and it's likely the sea and pools will be too cold for swimming unless you are used to it.

You can get flights from Manchester on those dates from £53 return but that's only with the small hand baggage so you're probably looking at at least £100 including a larger cabin bag, which would leave a total of £150 pp or £100 per night if you're sharing a twin room for accommodation (transfers don't necessarily need to cost much as you can just get a public bus from the airport for a couple of euros).

So it depends on the hotel whether it's worth paying £100 per night. Some will cost more, some will cost less

These are the bodies that protect your interests for a (package)holiday in case of companies going bust/hotel or flight cancellations not on your part. You can check that any number on the booking is valid using the links below.

Only you can decide if it’s a good price or not and you are willing to pay it. Better places to go in Majorca. However, if you are up for nightlife then you should be fine.

LoudSnoringDog · 28/03/2025 06:59

We have paid £200 each to go to Cala dor for 3 nights same dates. Yours is reasonable enough if it includes luggage but you will need to factor in name change cost. Magaluf won’t be heaving with teens/ young adults in early May and it’s cleaned up A LOT in the past few years. Which hotel is it?

Bjorkdidit · 28/03/2025 07:02

I suppose another factor is how much you're happy doing a favour for your sister and her friend by buying the holiday off them that they can't use.

It could be anything between doing them a favour because you owe them one to picking up the pieces for their flakiness again.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 28/03/2025 10:51

Price sounds fine to me - but has this been booked as individual plane/hotel or as a package? And will it be possible to change the names on the booking ?

samarrange · 28/03/2025 15:08

If that's the total price including the change fees and luggage then it seems decent, but (a) what's the name of the hotel and (b) what's the board basis (B&B, all-inclusive, etc)?
