Hello all,

I’ve been going round in circles trying to find a holiday destination and villa that fits the bill for our summer holiday this July. Does anyone have any fab recommendations that tick as many of the below as possible ?? Could either be a destination or a villa that you’ve stayed in before …

  • We’re looking for a 5+ bedroom spacious villa with a pool
  • needs to comfortably sleep 4 x adults and 6 x children (all under 9)
  • We are really open to European destination suggestions…
  • So far I’ve been looking at Greek islands, Puglia, Sicily, south of France.
  • We would ideally like to stay somewhere coastal, so near to some lovely family friendly beaches with nice lunch spots, and perhaps a walk into a town with a bit of a buzz in the evenings.
  • Nice restaurants, cafes, farmers markets etc.
  • Budget is around £9k.
  • Happy to rent cars to get around, but ideally somewhere not too off the beaten track and not too much of a transfer time from the airport because of the children.
  • 10 nights.

Any suggestions, or am I asking too much?!
Huge thanks x

Villa Rias, Galicia | Oliver's Travels sounds like it would tick your boxes. It's near the beach and Combarro, a beautiful town with restaurants, cafes etc, and then a 15 min drive from Pontevedra, a bigger city.

Does it have to be coastal?

There are some lovely chalets in the Alps with swimming pools

In many of the nicer parts of the Mediterranean, the time to book villas for July 2025 is (was) September (or even April) 2024. So you may have to compromise based on what's available. 10 days may also limit your choices because in peak season the owners/agencies don't want a single unsold day and they aim to work by the full week. Good luck, and if you don't find what you want, think about 2026! 🙏

I second @Muchtoomuchtodo‘s suggestion. The French/Swiss Alps would be a great option. We stayed in a Ski chalet in Samoens in August a couple of years ago and there was so much to do in the area. The chalet came with a hot tub and a huge verandah which overlooked the mountains. Watching the daily parapenters from the chalet was very entertaining and we had a go ourselves. We went up the Agueille du Midi in Chamonix and raced down the luge. We also visited Annecy which is breathtakingly beautiful and took a boat trip on the lake. It might be worth you taking a look?

@Funderthighs our best one was in Morillon - a big chalet with a swimming pool
and trampoline in the garden. It’s been sold now and isn’t available to rent any more which is a shame as we would have loved another trip.
