Hotel near a town with snorkelling and less than £10k for a week...

Does this exist please?! Taking DD19 and DS12 and I also don't want to be trapped in a hotel and would love a mooch in an old town/similar. Only for a week so don't want to travel too far, thinking Portugal, Italy or Croatia as a change to Spain. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Pretty much everywhere has snorkelling. As far as an old town - Ixia in Rhodes is good for Rhodes town (short bus journey) Tenerife has lots going on for teens but not such an old town area

Ok thank you, will also have a look. And I also assumed anywhere with a beach had snorkelling, but apparently the fish are more keen on rocky areas.

Less than 10k a week? Is that a typo? Is it the snorkeling that makes it so expensive?

StasisMom · 24/03/2025 21:40

No, it’s for four of us and I’d be hoping for much less than that but was trying to give a boundary.

Malta? Valletta is good for mooching. There is the Blue Lagoon for snorkelling. Teens might think the hypogenium (sp?) is cool.

We go to Gozo (island next to Malta) every summer. Good snorkelling and diving too. Plenty of old towns and villages to mooch round, best to have a car but uber is everywhere and the island is only small.

We usually book cheap flights to Malta then hire a car through Malta first car hire (very cheap) and it’s a short drive and ferry to Gozo.

Then we book a farmhouse with pool through baron holiday homes or Airbnb and do a mix of eating in and going to restaurants. It’s very safe for teens.

Great, thanks all it's appreciated. I don't want to mess up and waste a lot of money and it is probably the last time DD19 will come with us, so I want to get it right.
