Hi maltesers & tmmj,

I'm too lazy to type it again but check out this

Sorry, just re-read that thread and the emphasis is on things to do with children (though tbh I still enjoyed all of that as an adult!)

I think my best tip would be to sleep in late and do non-touristy things during the day (unless you want to go inside attractions) and then stay up late to enjoy the more peaceful streets and beautifully-lit buildings in the evening. Cooler too. Venice at night is just gorgeous.

Went a few years ago - it's fantastic. It will be hot in July. Take a comfy pair of shoes as we walked everywhere, only taking the water taxi across to the lido for a day at the beach.

It is expensive, so be prepared, but as it's a romantic kid free trip, just make the most of it! If you can justify it get a private (speedboat) taxi from the airport to your hotel - it was about 80 euros when we went, so v expensive, but sooooo worth it to feel like a Bond girl jetting over to the island....and the sight of Venice appearing as you get closer is just fab!

Take a water bus over to the Lido (beach) and lie out and enjoy the sun!

venice is just wonderful! Definately take the (expensive!) water taxi, arriving by speedboat is fantastic (especially if you time it at sunset, soo romantic).

If you like art, check out the Peggy Guggenheim museum.

Finally, (7 years late!) got my eternity ring there, from a little jewellers on the Rialto Bridge.
