First passport and passport renewal

Hi all,

we’re going on holiday in 10 weeks. I’ve complicated things for myself.

my current passport wasn’t due to expire for another year and has my maiden name.

i booked the holiday a few weeks ago with my married name and sent off a name change/passport renewal yesterday.

the issue is my son needs a first passport, do I wait and get my new passport with married name on it before I apply. Or do I send his application off now with my maiden name?

You could have done both at the same time and sent both off together. Likely need to wait for your new one to come back now. Or phone the adviceline and see what they advise.

P.s. you could have travelled with your old one by booking tickets in your previous name.

I have just done my name change alongside a name change and it took 2 weeks exactly from me sending it to receiving it back.

I applied for my daughters 1st passport on 4th of march since then only heard back that they have received my first lot of documents for the father since then I have sent off my documents (the mother) I haven’t heard anything since the 10th of March they keep saying that it’s with an examiner. Does anyone have any idea how long it usually takes?

Hi, so I did my passport first and it took 10 days. I did my little boy’s… here’s the timeline.

2nd April: Application submitted
4th April: Countersigned
5th April: Document sent
10th April: Document received
14th April: Application Approved

My passport was posted to me the next day after it was approved so expecting my little boy’s by Wednesday, so 14 days.
