The Pig or The Painswick?

We normally go to one of the Pigs for a winter break, stay in one of the rooms with a log fire. We love the relaxed vibe/squashy sofas/delicious food and cocktails. We normally stay at the one near Bath.
However The Painswick has come up as an alternative. We could get the nice room with the four poster bed and log fire.
Anyone been to both and can offer an opinion?
Or have been to the Painswick and have a view?
Thanks

Stayed at The Painswick about 18 months ago and had a wonderful time. Super comfy beds, lovely rooms (ours looked over the garden) and delicious breakfast and dinner and plenty of squishy sofas too (we were there in summer so sat in the garden on large sofas as well as inside). Added bonus of a cosy cocktail bar area with a pool table we enjoyed a couple of games after dinner. Point to note… extremely narrow streets to get to it. Challenging in a large Volvo so be prepared for that. Also apart from Painswick being a lovely place to stroll around (count the 99 yew trees in the churchyard!) there’s not a lot there. However the wider area is beautiful. Plenty to see and do.

We drive in the Cotswolds a lot. Plenty of Range Rovers manage it!

The Painswick area is lovely. The Slad valley made famous by Laurie Lee! Cirencester isn’t far so many lovely villages are nearby. Although Gloucester is not great, the cathedral is superb.
