Gran Canaria resort advice

Was looking at Puerto Mogan, but think we've missed the boat for this summer. Could anyone please tell me what Amadores, Meloneras and Arguneguin are like please? It’s for a mixture of adults and mid teen.

Puerto Mogan attracted us due to a couple of nice hotels but could wander to the marina for evening meals. Are the other resorts I listed like that? It’s a bit harder to tell from the blurb. We've previously liked Pollensa, Cala San Vincenc and even Playa Blanca so not looking for anything too lively and don’t want to be completely stuck in the hotel. DC also keen to hire road bikes.

Thank you!

We go to Puerto Mogan every Christmas and I’ve also been to the others you like. Puerto Mogan is literally the jewel of the canaries and honestly there’s no other like it.

Amadores has a great beach and bars all along the beachfront, but not much else apart from a Spar and a couple of shops. For nightlife you need to go to Puerto Rico which is much more loud and brash and not my cup of tea.

Arguiniguin is a working town where locals live. Attractive black sand smallish beach and quite authentic but not a patch on Puerto Mogan. Popular with Norwegians who winter there. Wouldn’t be my choice for a summer holiday but would consider for Winter months.

Meloneras consists of decent hotels and restaurants. I don’t know it well but is the better option for you than the other two you’ve mentioned.

Are you sure nothing available in Puerto Mogan as the summer is considered their quiet season with October to May high season.

Thank you @friendlycat that's a very helpful summary. We have similar great taste then!
Would you mind sharing where you stayed, please? We might be able to get into the Radisson Blu in Puerto Mogan but really nothing for the Cordiale in July & August from 4 different airports! I’d prefer not to self cater this year, and then possibly have to hire a car, but maybe needs must.

I would stay in Puerto Rico itself. You can get the boat to Puerto Mogán and spend the day there. There’s lots in Puerto Rico. Amadores is beautiful and the beach is amazing. There’s not much going on at night time though so you would need to go to Puerto Rico itself.

Hi, we stay in Amadores regularly and would recommend the Gloria hotels. For a teen the Gloria Palace Amadores would be best. There is a beautiful cliff top walkway between Amadores and Puerto Rico with stunning views. The Gloria Palace Amadores is closer to Puerto Rico. Admittedly we have only been in the winter months but I have never found Puerto Rico brash. It has a good beach and range of shops and lots of boat trips are available, including to Puerto Mogan. It might be worth considering.

We stay in apartments around the harbour as I’m not keen on hotels and like the bigger space. The Radisson is at the entrance to PM and does seem popular though I can’t say it’s an aesthetically appealing building to look at!

The Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel has very attractive grounds and pools and is an easy walk to the beach and all the restaurants and the Marina. There is the Cordial Valle apartments next door but they are self catering. There’s an abundance of restaurants so you could easily eat breakfast lunch and dinner out if you wanted to, though the Valle apartments do offer different meal options as well.

Thanks everyone for your time and advice. We'll definitely use your recommendations in the future but ended up booking in Italy this year 🙄😂
