Where to go May half term with kids?

Family of 4, kids age 8 and 5
We are looking for mid 20's temp
Walking distance to/in a town with plenty of restaurants
Near a beach
Self catering and pool preferable

Without sounding like a snob, we like more upmarket resorts like Puerto Pollensa in Majorca and Rubicon Marina in Lanzarote but accommodation does not need to be luxurious. Have been looking at Carvoeirio in the Algarve and Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Rocha Brava near carvoeirio - about a 15 min walk to amazing beaches, lots of good restaurants just next to the site and near by via the free shuttle to Carvoeirio. Pools will probably be cold in May though. We went with HPB and had use of the covered one.

Last year we had 15 degrees some days

it can be great but it’s hardly guaranteed sunshine

Most of the ideas seem to be Spain. In late May I’d go to Italy or Greece. Enough very good resorts like Forte or Sani. Or Cypress where water might be warmer.
