Bath hotels: Gainsborough V No.15?

Last summer we took the kids (8, 12,14) to the Old Bank in Oxford for a weekend and it was lovely. We were thinking of trying Bath this time (pricey, but it’s a treat). I think I have narrowed down to these 2 hotels. Any views? TBH, the spa at the Gainsborough would be wasted on us (and kids can’t use it anyway) but the central location is appealing so the older kids can come and go. But then No.15 looks great too! What say you all?? Thanks for the tips.

I stayed in the Gainsborough with DC1 as a post GCSE treat. It was lovely. DC1 is now 22 and still talks about how lovely it was and how the minibar was free and had chocolate in it. We made good use of the spa though - it was free to hotel guests after a certain time.

We went to the Gainsborough for a birthday treat for me last year. It was really lovely - superb service and the spa was great so do use it if you can. I hadn’t said it was my birthday but DH mentioned it in passing and they gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate!
