Hello, has anyone taken a seated journey on this train rather than a cabin? What's it like throughout the night? Do people play on their mobile phones with the sound on?

Just trying to book now. I’ve got the seat planner up but can’t figure out which is the front and rear of the train, I much prefer to be forward facing so might have to wait for the chat to open and ask. Only three seats taken at the moment for that date.

The seated coach is coach A. Seats 1-5 face forward. They are the ones I usually book as they are single seats!

But when you get to Edinburgh and the train separates, you then go backwards, IIRC…

I have been tempted to book a cabin, but got put off by the negative reviews on tripadvisor.

Is it possible to properly sleep in a cabin (even if not the seat)? I am someone who really needs sleep! But it looks like such an adventure.

Yeah. I always sleep well in the sleeper. The beds are comfy, and the rocking of the train helps me to sleep. The sheets and duvet are really nice quality too.

I used it in my 20s and slept well. In my 40s I barely slept as I couldn’t deal with lying sideways to the direction of travel!

Nowadays I get an early LNER train and arrive feeling fresh.

The new cabins are really comfy compared to the old ones.

If money is no object the double bed cabin is so comfortable. But it's eyewateringly expensive most of the time

I've only used the cabin & slept quite well, some rocking & metal noise. We had bunk beds & an ensuite so we could use the dining car. The views from Glasgow to Fort William whilst having breakfast were wonderful. A brilliant adventure

Thanks, I'm only going as far as Edinburgh.

Oh, that’s fine, then, you will go forward all the way.
