Paris hotel / Airbnb recommendations

It’s our silver wedding anniversary this year and we’re looking to go for a city break to Paris. Has anyone got any hotel or Airbnb recommendations? I prefer slightly quirky and historic rather than budget or or chain places . Thanks

Just home from a wonderful stay at the lovely boutique Hotel Vendome Saint Germain. It's near notre dame. Easy access to metro stations Juisse and Cardinale Limoine. Look it up on booking.com it's delightful

It's 10 years since we went there, but we loved Hôtel Belloy Saint Germain.

One of the reasons we loved it was that at the time there was no actual bar. Instead, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm each day they served complimentary champagne to whoever was in the lounge, and the rest of the time there was a drinks cabinet where you helped yourself and kept a note of what you had so they could bill you (not too much, as I recall). However, looking at their website it seems they now do have a bar, which I'm sure is nice but probably lacks the charm of the previous setup.

The location is brilliant, midway between Notre Dame, the Panthéon, and the Jardins du Luxembourg. You really feel that you are right in the middle of Paris.

We stayed in Hotel Taylor which is a lovely boutique in the heart of Paris, lots of cafes and restaurants near by and you can walk to the Louvre.

This place is definitely quirky. I really enjoyed our stay here.

You don't say your budget, but this place is good value for Paris. 3 stars but some nice touches like 12pm checkout as standard, lovely herbal teas in the rooms and a nice lounge/bar where the breakfast is also served.

We had a few rooms and the ones at the back of the hotel had no noise at all, but the ones on the front had some street noise.

It's in the 11th which is not a typical tourist destination and just off Rue Oberkampf which has tonnes of bars and restaurants.

The food at this place for example was excellent, a 5 course tasting menu for €55 per head

Good metro connections and also walkable to the centre in around 30 minutes.

For more luxury, this hotel is really lovely and in the 6th, a more upmarket area and has 4 stars

Another really good 3 star place is Hôtel Henriette in Les Gobelins. Bit further south than Le Six, but really lovely rooms, especially the Junior Suite which was HUGE for Paris. Very nicely furnished and comfortable with lovely service

Looks like they are having work done to the outside of the building though over the summer, so check dates

I've also stayed here, also highly recommend!

Walkable from Gare du Nord in about 20 mins if you're arriving by Eurostar

We stayed at Hotel Louis II in St Germain last month. Lovely small boutique hotel in a great location.

Great thread I really want to go to Paris for my 50th next year.

@JoeySchoolOfActing I just tried your first suggestion and every date I click on between now and December it says fully booked. It's either very popular or I am doing something wrong which is more likely!

JoeySchoolOfActing · 20/03/2025 07:42

@Sunshineandrainbow that's weird!

I just tried a couple of dates, one weekend in June and one midweek in August and they had availability.

I'm sure it popular, not all options are available - maybe you've just been unlucky with the dates you've put in?

PercyPigs1 · 20/03/2025 23:08

Thank you everyone - some great options on here Smile We had 2 days in Paris on honeymoon when we’d just finished being students so were on a budget and stayed a long way out. Looking forward to something a little more upmarket this time!

I haven’t stayed but visited a friend here and thought it looked really nice - the bar was great and it has a pool. Very quirky/boutique - https://www.hotelmontecristoparis.com/.

I travel to Paris a lot for work and would be very happy to stay here!

Verite1 · 21/03/2025 00:15

we stayed here recently. Gorgeous little boutique hotel on a buzzy street in St Germaine. 5 min walk to 2/3 metro stations, 10/15 mins walk to la musee d’orsay. Loved it.
