Winter son for myself and teen

Looking for a winter sun holiday for myself and my 17 year okd daughter (10-14 days). Thinking of Bali, Indonesia and Philippines? Could just stick to Bali and Indonesia but am wondering if there is enough to do for 2 weeks. Mixture or relaxing, sightseeing and water sports would be good. I am looking forward to any suggestions.

Bali is in Indonesia. You could spend a year in Indonesia and be occupied.

Not sure I’d go that far just for sun and sand.

Where would you go in the winter months then?

If you want a fairly laid back trip, how about Mauritius? Would be a shame to go to, say South East Asia or Sri Lanka (fantastic winter destinations) if you aren’t going to explore. I always recommend Selective Asia, if you did want someone to put together a more adventurous package for you. They will factor in downtime as required.

I’d go to Barbados. I’m there now. It’s fabulous. 30 degrees and only an 8.5 hr flight.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will be going to Sri Lanka in the sunmer and have previously been to Costa Rica, India (although some parts still to explore), Barbados, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia.

Hence was thinking of Indonesia. I will have a look at Selective Asia for ideas. I am up for exploring.

Was also thinking of Hawaii with a stop over in LA ……

It’s a very long flight to Bali. How about Kenya? Lovely beach at Watamu, safari, Nairobi.

Zanzibar? Although requires a change
Belize? Great if you like diving

You’re obviously quite well travelled but honestly if you want to go to Indonesia, it’s worth exploring as it’s an amazing country.

Hawaii is a very long way! It is beautiful, but parts are very built.up of course. You could comfortably fill a couple of weeks at a relaxed pace.

What water sports are you interested in? Hawaii is okay for diving, not that great for sailing, but good surfing etc. and whatever motorised watersport you fancy.

There are also plenty of options in Africa btw.

What about Mexico?

We have done some countries in Africa already but yes should also look at others.

So I feel I have lots of options now to choose and plan!

What worries me about Indonesia is the rain in December although I know it will hopefully be temporary and not continuous.

I always fancied learning to surf. Diving does not take my fancy.

How long are you willing to fly for? We are heading to Hawaii next year and the journey is a bit of a mare.

If you’ll go that far Langkawi is also a good option.

We have two or more weeks so can tolerate a long haul flight.

yes if doing Malaysia will definitely consider Langkawi although my friend who went there recently said it didn’t live up to expectations

South Africa? I assume you mean winter here to get sun somewhere else? Cape Town is great and a lovely mix of opportunities for adventure (diving, surfing, hiking etc), lying around on beaches, and also getting great food and drink etc.
