Driving holiday

Good morning,
We are looking to book a holiday. We had our best ever one last year, driving to the south of France with an overnight stopover on the way and way back.
We are hoping to do something similar this year, staying in Airbnbs.
Last year, the whole trip was only 9 days and so felt rushed. This year, we would like to go for longer and perhaps do a stay in France and then driving over a boarder, maybe Italy or Spain, if we are south west.
I wondered if anyone else has done this? We will have a four year old and a fourteen year old, and possibly 13 year SD. I wondered if anyone has any recommendations?
Thank you.

One year we drove from Brussels via the Rhein Valley, Bavaria, Valpolicella to Tuscany where we stayed 10 days. On the way back we stopped at Lake Como, Lake Brienz in Switzerland and somewhere in Alsace. We did this over 3 weeks. The scenery through the Dolomites and Alps was amazing. We drove to South of France many times but only did one night stops, normally in Novotel at Macon or Rouen. A couple of years ago we drove via France to Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda via Mont Blanc tunnel. Also lovely scenery.
