Hello,
we want to take a train from Munich out to near one of the lakes but can’t decide where best to go! I have two teenagers so need to be near activities! Any ideas for location and types of accommodation/prices?

Eibsee! It's the most beautiful place I've ever been. And the cable car up to the top of Zugspitze was very cool. I stayed at Hotel Zugspitze in Garmish. It was scary expensive (I think it's 4 stars, and I'm usually a 3-star sort of person!) but no regrets. The food was lovely and the spa was really nice. Garmish itself was fab too. I went in early September and the lake was warm enough to swim for as long as I wanted to. You can walk around it in a couple of hours, and there are some lovely quiet spots you can set up a small 'camp' beside the lake and just chill with a book for the afternoon. I had the best day ever there.

With teens, you probably want to factor in a day at the waterpark near Munich, Therme Erding. The accommodation there was just ok, nothing to write home about, but again no regrets,

We’re heading to Garmisch in the summer. We found a reasonably priced 3 bedroom apartment on booking.com. I’ve not looked too much at activities yet but Garmisch gorge looks good for a not too long walk and there’s also the Sommer Rodelbahn.
