Is it possible? 1 week abroad in August all inclusive for around £1000 pp?

Am I asking the impossible? Cheapest I seem to be able to find is £1500+

Second week of August, 7 nights, somewhere warm and sunny but not massively hot, safe, all inclusive for a couple, no kids with us. Somewhere with easy walking access to beach/ shops/ restaurants/ bars. Room must have air con! Decent food, but we’re not proper foodies or anything.

We just want a quiet week, lying by the pool or on beach drinking cocktails, potter around shops/bars.

Flying from a northern airport.

We’ve been looking at Spain, Canaries, Madeira, Portugal, France but open to anywhere else.

Why are you going in the school hols if you don't have kids? You might only get 3* for that which could be a bit grim on AI.

Look at Turkey , Morocco .. will be cheaper . Although at that price and time you'll probably only get 3* - so the AI may be not great quality .

Could be a teacher. My mum was always fighting to get time off in the school holidays and she didn't have young kids. Dad was a teacher.

There are absolutely loads on Loveholidays.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 13/03/2025 11:13

Best bet is end of Aug around 24/25th - seen a few for Turkey £1000 pp all inclusive with TUI x

Likely to get better value and a better experience if you self cater and combine with eating out and drinks, snacks and easy food from the supermarket.

You'll be able to wander off to a selection of restaurants each day and be served at a table rather having to join in the scrum at the buffet.

AI is a risk as its either very expensive or more attractive if you value quantity over quality.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 13/03/2025 11:47

Not for anywhere with decent food IME. Do you have to go in school holidays? France
Doesn't really do AI. You could look at Balearics butt they'll be expensive (and mostly booked now!).

Pe1ican · 13/03/2025 11:56

Take a look at when the school holidays end in Scotland as you may get a holiday cheaper flying from Scotland if they have returned by that point. I think they usually return early-mid August

Thanks all. We need to go in the summer holidays as my children are going to stay with their dad in Devon then so I’m at a loose end. Morocco looks interesting, thank you! Also wondering about Bulgaria, but it’s a bit close to Ukraine so not sure how safe it will be.
Im not keen on Turkey, have been before.

Return flights to Palma seem to be available for under £200pp and there seems to be AI hotels for the week in Majorca for around £1600 for a double room for your dates.

I would play around with Skyscanner for cheap return flights from your preferred airports and then search for AI hotels on booking.com for those destinations.

There’s quite a few on TUI, Tunisia, Spain.

If the situation in Ukraine gets to the point where Bulgaria is involved, your holiday will be the least of of your (and all our) worries.

Jet2holidays have 41 holidays available departing around 10 August from Manchest for a week's AI with Trip Advisor rating of 4 or above for under £2k for two.

Variety of destinations including Greece, Balearics, Canaries, Italy as well as Morocco and Bulgaria. See if any of those suit.

Loads of holidays on on the beach or loveholidays for that price for your dates. There’s a 4 AI with 5 trip adviser reviews in Marrakesh which might fit the bill loads more to choose from too. You may struggle to find something to tui or jet2 but plenty of other options out there.

I agree, lots of lovely hotels in Halkidiki for example, you just need to stay away from TUI and there are lots for less than 1k.

Cherubneddy · 17/03/2025 12:54

Thanks all. We’ve booked a week in a lovely adults only spa hotel in Crete for a week through Loveholidays, for £1200 each. Just hope it’s not too hot!
