Hoping to get away, last week of August this year.
Probably a week but could be 5 days.
Me, DH and DCs aged 17 and 18.

We've done a lot of 4/5* AI beach holidays so probably want to do something a bit different.

Maybe a city break but with a pool/beach element?

Budget is £10K.

Any ideas?

Barcelona is on the coast so offers a mix of city / beach. It might be too hot for sightseeing at the end of Aug though.

How about Gdansk in Poland? Our older teenagers/early 20s really enjoyed this city.

The “Old” Town of Gdansk (much of it was destroyed in the Second World War and rebuilt) is vibrant with shops, restaurants and Museums. You could take a boat trip to Westerplatte (start of invasion of Poland and WW2), visit the WW2 museum (in Gdank) and the Solidarity Museum (both Museums are really good).

The Beach at Sopot (12km away) is great, with a range of water sports and a pier. If you have time you can take a day trip by train to Malbork Teutonic Castle (largest brick built castle in Europe).

Gdansk has a range of accommodation (to suit most styles and budgets). Restaurants (particularly outside of the main tourist areas are very good value and great quality). In terms of weather in August average temperatures is 23℃ during the daytime, falling away to 15℃ at night, which would be perfect for us but might not be hot enough for you.

You could combine this city break with a stay in Warsaw and/or Krakow.
