Is it worth paying an extra £200 to fly from London City?

We are going on a long weekend away. The flight is pretty short but we’re booking last minute so it’s very expensive.

We live in inner London so pretty much all London airports are convenient.

Option A: Fly 9am from London City on BA, return into Stanstead on Ryanair = £700

Option B: Fly 2pm from Stanstead on Ryanair, return into Stanstead = £500

The BA flight would get us an extra 5 hours at our destination. I like flying out of City as it’s low stress and can rock up close to departure.

I would - mainly for the extra time at the destination (and because I hate Stansted)

The fast train to Stanstead is mad expensive as I recall (although admittedly I haven’t been there in years) so cost up the travel to the airport too.

100% worth it imo for the extra time, lower stress and generally because I think Stansted airport is a ballache. City is a dream in comparison!

Oyster cards cannot be used for the Stansted express train that goes from Liverpool Street station. You would need to buy a ticket. Service too can be patchy on weekends.

Well it depends how much money you have, but it sounds like it is worth it. Is that the total flights price or is it per person?

Have you accounted for the difference in luggage allowance, ie that if you want more than a rucksack with Ryanair you need to pay extra.
