Slovenia in August

We're holidaying in Slovenia at the end of August into early September and would appreciate advice from people who've been before on two questions:

• We have a 3yo and 8yo. Are we better staying by Lake Bled or Bohinj?
• One house we're considering booking doesn't have air conditioning... I really hate being hot in bed at night, will we regret it and wish we'd booked somewhere with AC?

I much preferred Bohinj and we took the bus to Bled for the day (beautiful but more town-y). We stayed at the campsite so no Aircon and nights were warm but fine. The lake is fabulous.
If you need more amenities Bled might be better.
If you like hiking and swimming Bohinj was fab.
