Last minute Athens

Looking at going for a week or so this Mar and madly reviewing things. Any recommendations on which area/hotel to stay to access most sights? Can you walk around the city, or is public transport or taxi recommended? Any ideas for a day trip from the city? Any help appreciated.

Day trip to Delphi. Read up about be Oracle.

That and/or Mycenae and Epidavros.

Stay somewhere central eg the Plaka district and then most of the main sites such as the Parthenon and agora are very walkable. We used the tourist hop on hop off bus for an easy tour of the area down to the coast and also to get to the Archaeological Museum which is absolutely fabulous.

We used the metro. No problems and easy to navigate. Loved the museums especially acropolis. We did a food walking tour booked through trip advisor, we stayed at the Melia but mainly because of the rooftop pool. You can get a bus out to cape sounion which would be fabulous, as is a day trip to the islands from Piraeus. Plaza is lovely to walk around, use monistraki squ as your navigation point. Enjoy!! We lived Athens, a bit shabby but friendly and loads to see/do!
