Help me pick a solo weekend destination

So I might have a precious two nights in mid-June to go away on my own. I have my teen DC 100% of the time (long story) but ex is taking them to a wedding for two days so it is a rare and MUCH needed break for me. I would love a couple of nights somewhere warm but not too hot, culture, nice food and wine, bougie little hotel so I can read, sip wine, watch the world go by. Not too difficult to get to, so a plane and shortish transfer.

It will also be my first solo holiday (apart from the odd night in a UK hotel/trip home to see family).

Looking for suggestions!

Artiem Carlos adults only in Es Castell, Menorca. Short flight, 10 min taxi from the airport. Lovely staff and feels very safe.

Went to Valencia last summer with DD.

Felt really safe. Lovely city, restaurants, culture and even beach nearby.
Very walkable. Gorgeous!

Easy flight from Heathrow and easy transfer!

Highly recommend.

Bilbao. Have been twice for a long weekend. Lovely city, you’ve got the Guggenheim Museum to visit for a bit of culture, and a lovely cathedral. Nice shops for a bit of retail therapy and lots of lovely food options everywhere. I treat myself to Hotel Carlton which is really lovely and very central but rather expensive, depending on when you go. But there’s no shortage of hotel options. Very easy to get into the city centre from the airport and the city feels very safe for solo women.

Can I get to San Sebastien easily from Bilbao @Fountofwisdom ? That might be an option, always wanted to wander the little streets eating my bodyweight in pinchos!

You have to get a bus from Bilbao to San Sebastian, I think it took about 90 mins, they ran frequently. Loved Bilbao and San Sebastian.

I did Madrid solo. Loved it. Stayed on the Grand Via. Very central. It's a smallish city so doable. Visit the Museo de Sorolla. Gorgeous !

I’ve never been to San Sebastian but I know there’s a coach service from Bilbao which takes about 90 minutes. There are trains as well but apparently they stop multiple times and are much slower than the coach. A lot of people combine Bilbao and San Sebastián for a few days.

There are loads of delicious pinchos in Bilbao too!
