Hi everyone
i am going on holiday next weekend abroad for the first time in 4 years. I’m already worried about being so far from home.

i often get homesick even though I’m in my 20s homeowner live with my fiancé so it’s not like I’m missing a specific thing but just the safety of home.

ive been so excited for weeks for this holiday and know when I’m there I’ll love it.

any advice please I’ve never felt like this before

I get this. I’m a lot older than you and have always had it. All I can say is push through it and you’ll be ok once you’re there. Don’t let this stop you exploring the world.
I always think that abroad would be a lot nicer if you could pop home to your own bed every night!

Are you going with your fiancé? You somehow need refocus on what you were looking forward to .... the weather, the food, the city, the pool ... I'm not sure where you are going? When the doubts creep in try to switch your focus immediately back to something you'll enjoy from this trip. I would share your concerns with whoever you are traveling with, do they can support you.

I have this too.

What makes me feel better is that there is usually always a couple of flights back to the UK a day, so we're never really "stuck" like we used to be 20 years ago.

Knowing the option to go home if you need to is comforting.

Can I recommend the Dare Approach app. You can get the book as well on Amazon but It's mainly for panic attacks and anxiety. It really helped me overcome agoraphobia.
