What’s your experience of travelling with newborn and toddler?

DS2 is due end of May. We are thinking of potentially going on an AI holiday around end of July but I am anxious about travelling with toddler + newborn + busy airports with just me and DH? At the same time, it would be lovely for DS1 who will be 28months. He’ll love the slides and splashing about and all the food/ice cream. Would love to hear your experiences, good or bad.

We did it when DS2 was 5 months and it was fine. We brought a compact buggy that worked for either baby or toddler, and used it for DS1 in the airports with DS2 in sling, then for DS2 throughout the holiday. On the flights we took it in turns to have each child (DS2 being the easier one - DS1 needing more entertaining). We got a 2-bedroom family room so DS1 had his own space and DS2 went in a travel cot with us.

Also we went to Turkey where they all LOVE babies. Airport staff and taxi drivers were practically queuing up to hold the baby for us while we sorted the toddler and the suitcases.

Fine and easy as baby slept anywhere and was breastfed. having children those ages isn’t easy anyway, but going abroad with them is no less easy in my experience and it’s nice to have a change of scenery!

I think it’s fine
But I suggest going beginning Sept if you’re not locked into school holidays with work. As you can benefit from less crowds and lower hotel prices once the schools go back. The first week Sept is perfect

I would also suggest September for logistics reasons, you need to process the birth certificate and then get a passport, if the timing is due to your dps annual leave eg teacher, go later in the holidays
