Hot but not too hot in August

Looking at getting away over August - none of us are any good in the heat. We've tended to go to Spain in May half-term but can't the time off work this year... Any suggestions for somewhere that might be mid 20s in August? Two primary aged kids and a teenager, and usually like to mix beach with a bit of culture...

The Alps - not beachy though

The west coast of France around La Rochelle/Ile de Re / Royan. Weather is generally UK weather but 3-4 degrees warmer. You can be unlucky and get a rainy week or a heatwave (just like in Uk).

I have exactly the same requirements and last year had a lovely holiday in Biarritz and San Sebastián.
Nice weather, lovely beaches, culture and food. Highly recommend.

Canary Islands tend to be a steady heat all year round.

We've got a static near La Rochelle, it can be ROASTING hot, 40' in August, and it stays hot into the evening.

This, we did Bilbao and San Sebastian last August, weather was perfect. It's quite pricey in San Sebastian though.
