September holiday with 21 month old

I'm looking for the best place to go not too long a flight from Bournemouth with my toddler, so not too hot, but with things to do, any recommendations?

We had a lovely holiday with our toddler who was a similar age in September last year. We went to Villajoyosa in Spain - a small town between Alicante (airport) and Benidorm. It was a perfect mix of good weather, proximity to the beach, lots of playgrounds in the town, lots of shops and cafes. It has the coastal train running through it so you can get to Benidorm and Alicante by train (and further north too). Plus if you hire a car you can take advantage of some of the more touristy offerings near Benidorm such as the zoo/aquapark (or you could probably get a taxi).
