Easter 2026 holiday options? Egypt or Turkey?

Trying to do advance planning now eldest is at school.

Will Easter be too cold for Turkey? I’m worried Egypt will be too hot, we have a 1 year old! We will have done the canaries over New Year so would like somewhere different, we know we’d need a heated indoor pool for Turkey at that time. Also not adverse to any other semi affordable options e.g. not the Caribbean!

To be honest Egypt is probably warmer but not as hot as you think it would be. Turkey only starts getting warmer mid April and then I’m talking uk nice day not hot summers day.
Egypt is probably up to 22 at that point and you will have the pool and sea.
just to add Tunisia is also another option much the same as Egypt and to me more preferred against Egypt.
you could also look at Cape Verde which is nice all year and only 6 hours flight.

That interesting, I looked at Sharm climate averages and it states 21celsius is the lowest temp (and that would be at night usually given temperatures don’t fall below this).

What’s wrong with Egypt compared to Tunisia? We are both pretty adventurous travellers and dive as well hence why I guess overall Egypt sounded more interesting! Although we generally love Turkey too although need to be realistic about the 1 year olds needs at that time haha.

Sorry but Egypt is an enormous shithole and I wouldn't go again if it was free, regardless of the weather.

Wow some pretty strong views here on Egypt 😂. Surely it depends on the hotel & how you organise any excursions!

I looked at Cape Verde but noticed the hotel reviews seem pretty bad - worse than Egypt??

That's like visiting a slum in an English town & saying all the UK is an enormous shithole.

Egypt is a fascinating country.

I've never felt threatened, never been ill; I just take the usual precautions.

Cape Verde is very much under developed and some holidaymakers are suing their travel provider re food poisoning and food hygiene standards/storage.

I've been to Egypt many times for both work and holidays and felt safe, but I'm not sure I'd go back for holidays, now.... Temperature -wise, the sea will be warmer in Egypt - you'll probably need a heated pool there, too. Turkey will be pleasant, but water will be cold in sea and pool.

I'm off to Cape Verde in a few weeks, for the second time. I enjoy it, but don't do hotels there - I go to a decent beach-front apartment complex. If you go somewhere like the Hilton, I'm sure it'd be fine, but check reviews carefully if your budget doesn't quite stretch to international chain resorts. The sea is never bath-like there - it's in the middle of the Atlantic, so always refreshing. Pools are actively cold in March. Not sure about April.

Egypt it not a shit hole, I've been a few times and my parents go twice a year. If you are going in April it will probably be about 30 Degrees. There are some lovely hotels in Sharm and Hurghada with great facilities for kids. Turkey is also lovely but would be a bit cooler and you could potentially get some rain. If you do go to Egypt buy some Antanil from the chemist if you start to get a grumpy tummy, some people do and plenty don't. It sorts it right out.

I hated Egypt to be fair and found it had nothing apart from the hotels. I also had my 14 year old daughter who was blonde and the lads wouldn’t leave her alone.
