To say I am exhausted is a understatement. I need a weekend on my own somewhere in the UK. Relaxation is the key. Less kids the better (love them but as a teacher and a single mum could do with a couple of days without them!). Any recommendations for places within 2-3 hour drive of Liverpool? Also not adverse to a quick trip abroad

How about the Gladstone library? A friend went recently and highly recommended it for rest walks and reading

What do you like to see and do? When are you thinking of, I'm assuming school holidays but when? What sort of budget?

I'm planning a spa break this year at the Crescent Hotel in Buxton where I'll go on walks and scenic drives around the Peak District, have lunch while out, go in the spa in the afternoon then laze around my hotel room in the evenings with snacks from the adjacent Waitrose.

Or from Liverpool you have a great choice of flights so you could look at the Skyscanner 'everywhere' option to see what well priced flights there are for the dates you're thinking of.

Have you ever been to the Isle of Man? Quick flight from Liverpool, good public transport around the main population centres and quite a relaxing place especially outside Douglas. Lots of coast and countryside to explore.
