Canal Boat Holiday whilst Pregnant?

Invited on a canal boat holiday with 4 other friends, if all goes well, would be 18 weeks pregnant. Nightmare or a lovely time? I'm a bit nervous about climbing in and out of the boat?

I waddled on and off a boat (with help towards the end Grin) several times during my pregnancy. My last boat trip was when I was 34 weeks so I think you’ll be grand! Enjoy, just be careful and let people help you if you need it Smile

I'm over 30 weeks right now and would feel ok getting on and off a boat as long as there are railings or people to help. You won't be massive, but your balance can be compromised, so just be slightly more careful than you think you need to be

At 18 weeks I think you will barely notice you are pregnant in terms of physical effects. I was doing a lot more than climbing in and out of a canal boat for a lot longer than 18 weeks.

Purely from my own experience, I would say 18 weeks is the perfect stage of pregnancy for an adventure! The first trimester I frequently felt queasy and needed to pee more frequently. The last trimester I felt enormous and uncomfortable and needed to pee almost constantly. From 12 to 24 weeks I felt terrific.

If you look at boaters, quite a lot are pretty old and less agile than a reasonably fit woman halfway through pregnancy I'd have said.

A holiday where you're travelling at walking pace with a loo is ideal.😂

I did this - about 16 weeks I think. It was fine. I even had the odd glass of wine. Don't recall any issues getting on and off the boat. Missed out on the oysters though.
