Morocco in August

Has anyone visited Morocco in August with a youngish family eg 7 - 10 years old. The flight and accommodation look cheap and we were thinking about a few days in Marrakech chilling in the riad pool in the day the heading out exploring for evening for food. Second part of the trip would be a hotel further outside of Marrakech.

Keen to hear any thoughts and/or advice!

Thanks

We went in August last year - generally we cope with heat, Florida in August no problem but way way way too hot ! 42-46 every day, and not much better in the evening We enjoyed Marrakech but will not be going back in August.

We went to Morocco in August - to Tagazhout near to Agadir. Slightly older kids (12, 13, 15). Every day was very misty in the mornings until the sun burnt it off around lunch time. Getting there was cheap, eating in hotels & good restaurants was not. Local places were cheaper to eat. It was very busy as apparently everyone decamps to the coast from Marrakech where it was 48oC mid August. Alcohol tax is very high, so expensive and not widely available outside the better hotels and restaurants. All in all, it worked out we spent a lot more than expected.

It's going to be HOT.

If you want to go to Morocco in August maybe consider the coast rather than the desert? It will still be very hot but more bearable.

Agree with this - it's not a particularly cheap country, I would expect to pay similar for meals, shopping, excursions as you would in Spain.

Thanks all for the insight which is slightly different to my research but it's why Mumsnet is so great! I knew there would be a reason for the cheap flights!
