Athens in October

Considering Athens for a break in October, will be DH and I and son who will be 17 at that point. Looking at Airbnbs, friend has advised the area around Sygrou-Fix metro, would anyone who has been in the city agree? Also we are keen to explore the city and the surroundings - recommendations for a day trip out to a wee coastal resort close by for a walk along the sea front, paddle in the sea and nice lunch? Also, is Corinth worth it as a day out - a preliminary google suggests about an hour by train?

Any recommendations would be fantastic!

One day cruise that takes you to Poros, Hydra and Aegina. Or one day trip just to Hydra.

Evening stroll around Acropolis hill. Have dinner with the floodlit Acropolis above.

Athens museum.

Half day tour to see the monasteries of Meteora.

Changing of the guard at Greek Parliament.

Like the idea of a trip to Hydra - off to check out the rest of it...

Food walking tour was amazing - booked through trip advisor 'food around Athens' and took us to shops, market, restaurants...
Acropolis first thing before too many crowds, then go to the new and snazzy acropolis museum to see the statues
Walking tour of other ancient sites
We loved the national archeological museum but is 'traditional' style
You could do a day tour out of the city - Delphi would be amazing, or Corinth?
Walking around plaka is beautiful
We used the metro with no problems and walked lots, there are also lots of buses and cheap Ubers
Monastiraki squ was busy and lots of shops in that area...
