What is Biarritz like

I’m looking for somewhere for a few days in July with older teens. Warm, rather than hot with a beach. Is Biarritz nice? Is there anything to do? Is it fine with extremely bad schoolgirl French? Any other recommendations for a warm but not extremely hot relaxing beach holiday.

Further north - Arcachon. We did a few days in Bordeaux and then to there. Beach and stuff.

It's about 10 years since I was there but really liked it. It has a real old world glamour feel, but fabulous beaches all along the coast and great cycle paths. Great restaurants and nice walks. It's a big surf hub so your teens might like that. However the town beach got very crowded (tiny area for swimmers!) so we preferred to go to the beaches further out. We took a trip by bus to Capbreton and Hossegor as well. Very easy to get around by public transport (and I had bad schoolgirl French as well!).

It is great and good for older teens. We have been a couple of times. Also look at Hossegor - slightly up the coast, really nice surf place for young'uns. I went there in my 30s single and returned with my kids a few years on. Nice area. Biarritz is a bit more of a destination and a bit busier (but nice) but you could stay a bit up the coast and go there for a day.

Underwhelming and a bit overpriced. Loved Arcachon and Dune du Pilat which is amazing but both may be a bit too busy and hot in July.
