Anyone?
We have to go on August 19th, one week only, due to dates given for hospice respite care for one of my children. From Manchester.
There will be 4 of us- me, dh and 2 dd’s aged 10 and 17.
My head is scrambled with looking now.
We would like - not too busy, some character, not too far out of reach of nice places to wander and get a drink or meal in the evening, pretty, safe, nice beach or little coves to explore, not too English if you see what I mean, but where we can just enjoy.
We liked Kefalonia last year, and so are thinking Greece or somewhere Italian, open to other ideas too. We don’t want to have to hire a car though to get around.
Any suggestions welcome!

A budget would help op! How much can you spend for flights and accommodation?

Notimeforaname · 23/02/2025 12:45

Cheapest thing I can find at the moment is a week in Ibiza. Flights about £700 for all of you (still have to include bags, seats etc) cheapest accommodation not in the middle of nowhere £2.5k for 2 bed apartment.

Unless you want a city break?

How about Rhodes?

Notimeforaname · 23/02/2025 12:53

Flights to Corfu and other parts of Greece are coming up at about £1400-£1700.. but finding self catering accommodation for about £900 and up, for the week.

Have found ryanair flights to Rhodes, £2k, seats and bags included.

Accommodation anywhere from £500 up for the week.

I looked on jet2 holidays, Algarve ... lots for all budgets, including some with free child places. Algarve has great water parks.

There's (relatively) affordable (for august) hotels in Rhodes. Might be worth going into branch of TUI in your circumstances too, explain the dates are due to respite at the hospice, you never know if they can get you a bit of a discount, I know someone who has had amazing and compassionate experience from the in branch staff to get a better deal in not dissimilar circumstances, they want to help.

If you want to opt for flights and accommodation (b&b for instance) separately on Rhodes i recommend ixia as it's a short bus ride to Rhodes town, lots of nice places to eat

Oh!
lovely replies already, thank you everyone!
The budget would help- not sure really! I’m hoping to get something nice for the 4 of us for a good price, just like everyone else 🤣
so it depends what you are getting for your money. If it’s half board or all inclusive it will reduce the amount of spending money and so on, so we are thinking up to about 4k but everything seems ridiculous for a week, but our hands are tied.
We have seen a half board option at Achladies in Skiathos, and a band b in Troulos, Skiathos, and an all inclusive in Pefkos, Rhodes if any one has experience? I haven’t heard anything about Ixia, so I’ll have a look.
Corfu and the Algarve are good suggestions, but I’ve never been so I have no idea about which resorts to look at and which to avoid. We’re thinking something that’s a bit of a hidden gem but not so hidden that there’s nothing there! I have looked at Cyprus too but the nicer hotels seem to be in the middle of nowhere and a dont fancy the middle of Ayia Napa.
Thank you all x
