As long as you take the right clothing, it will be fine.

Did you book a sightseeing trip or a red sea beach/diving kind of trip? It's unlikely to rain much, so if you have layers I am sure it will be fine from a temperature perspective for sightseeing. I went mid-march many years ago and I think I was wearing a light coat when in Amman, but it was then t-shirt weather in Petra and Aqaba. Last year Amman was highs of 18 degrees through December right up until Christmas day and then the temperatures suddenly dropped quite a bit. Similarly Aqaba was highs of 25 degrees every day for most of December. Balmy compared to the UK!

Thank you. That’s reassuring.

Havent booked anything other than flights just now. Any recommendations for tour companies?

In a panic I booked a holiday to Istanbul once...

I had to deal with it on arrival. No idea why I was there of course, but I had to cope.

friends went in winter.they said it was brilliant as Petra etc was really quiet and they felt like they had the place to themselves. It was very cold at night. They got a guide when they were out there.

I've been in and around Amman over Christmas/New Year, and in Petra in early January. Conditions do differ quite a bit year to year and you may need to prepare for the unexpected especially if you are on a tight timeframe (just for example - I was solo in Wadi Musa in very early Jan and normally it's an easy drive to Aqaba, but the year I was there it snowed and visibility sucked; I ended up hiring a driver to take me). I will say for Jordan in winter - keep your options open and expect the unexpected if it's your first trip!

But there's no (general) reason not to go during this time period. Can you tell us what's different from what you expected that makes you regret the booking?
