Loch Ness recommendations?

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for staying near Loch Ness with a 7 year old and a 1 year old. DS7 wants to see Nessie, obviously! Ideally I’d like a holiday cottage overlooking Loch Ness - I’m searching but so many are “between Inverness and Loch Ness” when you delve deeper! Also, what else can we do if we’re there for a few days? Thank you

We stayed at Forest Glen which has some basic but nice lodges. Was a good base for our holiday.

Highland Club in Fort Augustus is fab, self catering apartments in a converted monastery at the end of Loch Ness. If you google the apartments tend to be listed on a few different website. There is a wee swimming pool, games room, large grounds and the village is lovely with lots of locks on the canal that goes through it.
