Essaouria in Ramadan period

Anyone been , I'm booked on a tour and they've just said we'll be out there through Ramadan and a lot will be closed . They've sent a fact sheet saying a lot of restaurants will be closed but what about excursions , do the people running them not work .
I'm wondering why we're being taken at a time when it could all be closed down .
How bad will it be ?

Restaurants and cafes will be closed all over Morocco until after ftor : breaking of the fast about 630

You will still be able to wander around the old town , beach etc un essaouira . Most shops might be open

I was in Morocco just before and into Ramadan a few years ago. There is various foreign office advice ie,not to drink , swear, chew gum , eat in public during this time. Also to be very careful driving around dusk during Ramadan .
I was in a more urban area but it felt kind of frisky, and it wasn’t an experience I’d repeat in a hurry.
And our flights were massively delayed due to heightened security, which is a thing around Ramadan.

on the other hand they might be able to change the times and arrange a ftor meal . They are always nice . Might be worth asking to leave later in the morning and then do one of them

esaaouira is lovely and very different from Marrakesh and definitely worth a visit

I went to Morocco during Ramadan in 2010 (so a while ago!). I don’t remember everything being shut during the day but Essaouria is beach-y anyway so it may have been that it didn’t matter too much as we were relaxing on the beach during the day. I would bear it in mind and plan ahead for food/drinks etc.
