Good UK staycations with children?

Hello,

I’m looking for some recommendations. My husband and I are planning a UK staycation over the Easter break with our 6-year-old, for about 5-7 days. There are so many options, and I’m struggling to decide.

We’re open to staying in either a hotel or an Airbnb, but the main priority is finding a location with plenty to keep our little girl entertained—things like amusements, a beach, animals, play parks, or a pool (it doesn’t have to have all of these!).

We’re based in Scotland but happy to travel, probably as far as London, though we wouldn’t go much further south.

I know this is very vague but we don’t usually do holidays like this, so any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated! thanks :)

Ps. Done Centre Parcs which I know would be an obvious choice but don’t really want to do that again!

We went to Alton Towers in Staffordshire and had a great time. Some good rides for all ages, lovely grounds and an indoor water park. We stayed in the onsite accommodation, and whilst the rooms were fine the onsite food isn’t that great, especially given the cost. I’d like to go back, but I’d either stay elsewhere, or at least drive outside the site for dinner.

That's not a staycation, it's a holiday.

Anyway Butlins, Centre Parcs (overpriced imo), caravan / lodge holiday.

Crieff Hydro has plenty to entertain a 6yo.

I think you've left it late to book for Easter. If you want to stay in Scotland:
Aviemore/Newtonmore. Stay in the McDonald Resort if you want a hotel break.
Haggerston Castle
Lossiemouth/Nairn/Forres. eg: Silver Sands.
Hunters Quay

I'm a big fan of uk holidays. When my DC were that age we did York(air b&b apartment on the river, walking distance to the city centre), Peak District (holiday cottage near Bakewell), Lake District (hotel at Windermere), North Norfolk (holiday let in Hunstanton) and London several times. All great fun with loads of activities. York and Bakewell probably our favourites. We also loved Bath and Portsmouth but those will be too far for your remit.

Butlins is amazing for kids. Haggerston Castle is a nice caravan park in lovely scenery - Bamburgh castle, Lindesfarne, Alnwick. However pool and amusements are not on the same level as Butlins. There is a really good ex Butlins in Scotland with a great pool. It might be a Haven now. Can't remember the name. If you Google it is will come up.

I always loved family trips to the Lake District at Easter. The lambs are in the fields, the daffodils are out and if it rains you can go to the Pencil Museum.
