Tips for getting 18 month old to sleep on flight?

I’ll be taking my 18 month old on a 4.5 hour flight leaving at 7pm. She’ll be knackered. I can’t purchase an extra seat for her. What’s the best way to get her to sleep? I can’t see online if you can take a pillow on board in addition to hand luggage - had thought we could put the pillow across mine and DP’s knee. Never used a sling or carrier before, are there any that would allow her to sleep cuddled into me safely? Any advice or other suggestions would be great. Thanks

Baby carriers are great I have the ergobaby 360 but they are pricey. My baby used to sleep in there. Not sure about now but so handy for getting on the plane etc.

On take off on my recent holiday my one year old napped a bit on take off. He had his dummy in so his ears wouldn't hurt and I put my breastfeeding cover over him so it was dark. The motion during take off helped him have a little nap.
