European holiday recommendations

Hi all

I’d absolutely love some personal holiday recommendations..
we are looking at Albania, Croatia, Slovenia type locations for an early august 10 day holiday.

the following thread has been so helpful so far https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/holidays/5076081-non-resorty-resorts

We don’t drink and so not sure if all inclusive is worth it .

we’d like adults only hotel near an old town & nice restaurants. Some activities to do - be it watersports, hiking , history not too fussed exactly what.

Budget is semi flexible but thinking £2k each at the moment

if you’ve had a similar holiday I’d love recommendations as there are just too many options online!

thanks so much ☺️☺️

Porto Vecchio and Taormina are two of my favourite European coastal resorts.

Taormina is gorgeous, Ortigia also - but might be scorching hot in August. Antibes? Lovely old town, nice beaches, easy to get up and down the coast on the train.

Thank you so much I’ll get researching !!
how do you normally book holidays - package, travel agent or independently please ?

Normally I book flights or trains etc direct and then go to Booking.com to check for accommodation - if hotels etc I will also check direct to see if they offer a better deal. Haven't done a package holiday for probably 25 years or more. If not sure on a destination, I go to Skyscanner or google flights with the dates and search "anywhere" and see what comes up.
