Verdon, France? or other warm swimming lakes?

Hey all, looking for a holiday with lake or river swimming as DS's skin seems to react to salt water. Travelling with two teenagers at the start of July. Kids are pretty easy going though hate crowds!. We are looking for beautiful scenery, warm weather, and easy access to warm freshwater swimming possibilities. We have considered alps and dolomites but concerned that weather is less predictable. Now looking at gorges de Verdon and Lac de Sainte Croix in Provence and would love feedback from personal experience and comparison to other similar holidays you may have been on.

Final factor that comes into play is that I am living with cancer so finding insurance is hard and having access to good quality health care is also in the mix - just in case!

We swam at the lakes near the medoc region last year. Fresh water and not chilly.

I don't know about that lake but I have swum in Lake Lucerne in Switzerland and it's absolutely lovely. Lots to do there.

Lake Annecy is lovely and there’s loads to do round there in summer

I hope you get insurance but if needed I have no concerns about the French medical system

Dordogne or Ardeche might be other alternatives for river swimming.

There are also loads of swimming lakes in the Dordogne region!

Camping du Brec is my favourite lakeside campsite. Scenery is stunning there.

Second of third the Dordogne or Ardeche.

We went to St Martin D'Ardeche last year and the river was beautifully warm. We got a gite which had very welcome Aircon during the heatwaves and was literally a 3min hop over the square to the beach area by the river.

Been to various places for the Dordogne but our favourite as a family was Beaulieu sur Dordogne.
